Media Editor is a useful tool for easily and efficiently editing media files. It lets you manipulate audio by adding/removing clips, generating sounds, applying effects and more.

The Big Picture

Think of all the things that a word processor allows you to do with a standard text document: move words around, add new stuff, edit the existing content, and a whole bunch of other great things. Well, try to think of Media Editor as a tool similar to that word processor, except that it edits sound files instead of text documents. So, what are some of the things you can do with Media Editor?

  • "See" your sound. The handy interface allows for easy viewing and navigation of your sound files. Have you ever wondered what a wicked guitar riff looks like?
  • Change your existing audio. A wide selection of available transforms allows you to change the existing sound in many ways, including changing the volume, equalizing, and applying Winamp DSP effects.
  • Easily add, remove, and mix clips. Get rid of that annoying silence at the end of your songs, or mix a hilarious sound clip into your recording of the State of the Union Address.
  • Generate some funky sounds. You can use the "Generate" feature to create some crazy effects. This will be of particular interest to those of us who wonder how high of a frequency our cats can hear, or who have always wanted to compose a symphony using touch-tone phone signals!
