- Install a TV tuner card in your computer. The card must work with WDM drivers. You may have to download the latest drivers for the card at the manufacturer’s website in order for the card to work with WDM drivers. The following cards are supported:
- ATI (http://www.ati.com)
- ATI ALL-IN-WONDER cards
- ATI TV Wonder cards, TV Wonder VE, TV Wonder USB
- ATI HDTV Wonder cards
- Hauppauge (http://www.hauppauge.com/)
- WinTV PCI or USB
- WinTV-PVR 150/250/350 (except for digital TV models)
- WinTV-PVR USB2 device.
- Other cards that use WDM drivers are also supported, including AverTV, Pinnacle Systems Studio PCTV/PCTV Pro. Some card manufacturers do not provide WDM drivers, but you may be able to use third-party/universal WDM drivers for certain cards.
- Download the latest drivers for your card from the manufacturer’s website. (Note: WinTV PCI users who have Win98SE, WinME, Win2000 or WinXP, should use WDM drivers available from the Hauppauge site.
- Connect an input feed to the tuner card. This can be an antenna or cable connection.
- Set up the Audio Connection. Most (but not all) TV devices require a cable directly linking the TV device and the sound card. If your device requires such a link, connect the cable. This is usually done through the sound card's Line-In connection or internal Auxiliary connection.
- Install drivers for the TV device. Refer to instructions that come with your TV card. You may also want to install the application that comes with your TV card and test to make sure it works, but this is optional.
- In Media Center select the TV Tuner in the tree (under Drives and Devices). Play a channel directly by entering the channel number using the number buttons and clicking Enter button (analog TV only). You can set up a channel, or all available channels (see Set Up TV Channels below for details), and then play a channel by double-clicking the channel entry in the Channel List.
- Select the analog video device from the list if asked. Also, select the digital video device from the list if asked.
- Select a country and TV Tuner Input Type (cable or antenna) if asked.
- Check or uncheck the "This device requires a cable to route sound directly to the sound card” box, depending on whether such a connection is required. If the box is checked, select the sound device and channel to which the connection is made from the combo boxes.
- You are ready to Set up your TV Channels.
