You should be able to record Web Media with Media Center using the "Mixer" recording source. You may need to go into your windows mixer to select the desired source prior to recording:

In Windows

  1. Double click on the speaker icon in the system tray.
  2. Choose Options > Properties and select Recording.
  3. Check the relevant volume controls (if you don't know which ones are relevant, select them all).
  4. The Master Volume box appears. If you have a source called "what-u-hear", or "sum" or "all", select (or un-mute) that source. If you don't have one of these, try the others until you find the one that works (Stereo Mix may work).

In Media Center

  1. Play the Web Media station (go to Web Radio in the tree, and select or search for a channel).
  2. From the Menu bar, select Tools > Advanced Tools > Record Sound.
  3. Input an Artist and Album name (CBC, As It Happens for example).
  4. Go to "Options" and select the Recording Settings icon in the left frame. Select "Mixer" as the Recording Source.
  5. Select the Encoding icon in the left frame, and set the encoder and quality you want to use to record.
  6. Select the File Location icon in the left frame. Look under Output File Location, Base Path. This is where your recorded file will be saved.
  7. Take note of or change the filename conventions (directory rule and filename rule). These will determine the name of the recorded file.
  8. Press "OK".
  9. Press "Start".

To playback your recording

Go to the Recently Imported Playlist (under Playlists in the tree) to find your file. Drag it to the Player Window to play it.
