In order to play a podcast feed that has not downloaded to your computer, you need to be connected to the internet. If the podcast has been downloaded you can play it anytime.
To play a Podcast that is already in your library:
- Select Podcasts in the tree.
- Select a podcast in the expanded tree, or select “Downloaded Podcasts”.
- When the content pane is populated with available podcasts, double-click on the Podcast Name (in the Name column). If the Episode Status does not display “on disk”, you need to be connected to the internet to play it.
Example
Selecting Slate Magazine under Podcasts in the tree displays a list of available Slate Magazine podcasts (in mp3 format). If you are connected to the internet, you can listen to any of these feeds, or you can download them and listen to them later.
You can also play downloaded podcasts in the same way you play other files. For example, you can search for them or view them through a View Scheme, then play them. Podcasts that have not been downloaded, however, only appear in their directory in the tree under Podcasts.
