WAVPACK Basics

WavPack is a completely open audio compression format providing lossless, high-quality lossy, and a unique hybrid compression mode. For more information on the format, see the WavPack homepage. WavPack is available as source code as well as executables for Windows, Linux, Mac, and several other operating systems. Plugins for a variety of media players have been developed.

Included with MC

Since MC 14.0.61, a WavPack plugin has been included with the program. It is based on the scthom plugin, with the author's permission. The code was modified due to differing compilers and updated to fix tagging and temp file locations in 15.0.96

Older versions

The WavPack plugins in older versions were not developed by J.River. The plugins (both decoder and encoder) were developed by scthom.

WavPack plug-ins for old versions are available from the mcplugins SourceForge page (both MC11 and MC12). Version 1 of the encoder and input plug-ins is for MC11, and version 2 is for MC12.
