Wake on Lan is a mechanism for waking up a computer by sending it a "Magic Packet" over the network. It would let you wake your computer from sleep in order to use MC's Library Server or DLNA. This feature was introduced in MC16.

The router must be configured to allow the packet to pass. Not all routers will support this feature.

From outside your LAN, the router will also need to forward port 9.
