What the Synapse PC does [DRAFT]
This PC is designed to be added to your Audio/Video stack. It can be connected to your amplifier or TV or both. It includes a copy of J. River Media Center. It can be controlled with a Media Center Remote and it supports USB TV sticks for over the air digital television. Both the remote and TV stick are optional at extra charge.
J. River offers the Synapse as a ready-to-run PC. Please see the details below.
How to get it
- The Synapse includes J. River Media Center version 14 and Windows 7.

J. River Synapse
J. River offers the Synapse shown above. The package includes:
- A high quality Media Center remote. It can control J. River Media Center without any setup. It also works with Windows Media Center.
- An IR transceiver device that connects to your computer via USB. It has two 1/8 inch jacks for emitters (one emitter is provided). No separate power is required.
- An IR emitter or "blaster" that plugs into the transceiver's 1/8" jacks. You can attach the emitter to the IR detection lense of the equipment you want to control, such as a cable set top box, a receiver, or a TV. The emitter has a peel-off adhesive on one side, but is transparent enough that the usual remote used with the device will still work.

The Media Center Remote kit (with one transceiver and one emitter) is $40 including shipping to a U.S. address

Additional emitters are $5 each. For example, if you want to control your amplifier and your TV, you'll need a second emitters (the kit includes one).
