No sound
- Is sound muted? Double click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the Windows desktop
- Try switching between Direct Sound and Wave Out in MC's options for playback.
Sounds bad
- Try playing the track in Windows Media Player.
- Try switching between Direct Sound and Wave Out in MC's options for playback.
- Check the DirectShow settings for the file type in MC Options/Playback/Video/DirectShow. If it is checked, uncheck the filetype for playback in DirectShow.
- Is there any special sound software installed? Consider uninstalling it.

File stops early
- Try playing the track in Windows Media Player. The file may be corrupt or the tag may be bad.
