Upgrade to MC18

Thanks for considering an upgrade. JRiver Media Center 18 is our latest and best.

You can upgrade for $17.98 from any version all the way back to Media Center 10, or from Media Jukebox 8.

(If you purchased MC17 after July 10, 2012, you received an MC17 license that works with both MC16 and MC17. You can just download and install MC17.)

Once you have upgraded, any subsequent build of MC17.0 is free. Just download and install it.

How to Upgrade and Purchase

1. Download and install JRiver Media Center 17.0. MC17 can co-exist with MC11.1, or newer, and it can convert old libraries to the new format. MC17 will automatically find and install your MC16 library and settings. It can also restore a backup made from MC15, including settings.

2. To purchase, you will choose "Buy" from MC17's Help menu. You should see these prices: First time purchase: $49.98 or Upgrade purchase: $26.98). If you see the upgrade price, you're ready to go -- just purchase. If you see the full price, but you believe you should see an upgrade price, you can restore your old license in MC17, or you can install an old version and license it. Also see "Problems with Vista and Win7" below.

Alternate Purchase Method

If you prefer to install MC17 later, you can still purchase an upgrade license now by using the Alternate Method. It does not require installation of MC17.

Recovering Your License

• You can restore your license for any version back to MJ8, by using the Registration Code you received by e-mail from buy-button at jriver. You can enter it on the Restore Page.

• If you can't find the e-mail, you can use the Restore Page option #2 to ask our license server to e-mail you your licenses. You can also change your e-mail address there if necessary.

Converting Old Libraries

You may chose to start fresh and let Media Center import your files. Performance may seem a little slow until this is completed.

Media Center can also read and convert some older MC libraries. This is automatic for MC15 or MC16 libraries and settings. For older libraries, make a backup from the old version and restore it in Media Center. Backup and restore are under File/Library.

MC17 can also copy your settings from MC16. This is automatic when MC17 first starts and can also be done when you restore an MC16 library (under File/Library).

Problems with Vista and Win7

Windows UAC can cause a problem for MC13 and older versions. If you don't see an upgrade price in MC17, please try this:

1. Install MC17.

2. Run it and use it to restore your older MC license.

3. In the Help menu, select the Buy option. You should see the upgrade price.
