In the list above, HDMI is obvious. Analog out (1/8" stereo jack) is ''hw:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 [ALSA]''. A USB DAC might have any name. In the list, the Bel Canto USB DAC is ''sysdefault:CARD=B20 [ALSA]''. Not listed above, S/PDIF Optical connections are reported to be typically listed as ''iec958:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 [ALSA]''. The hw: and front: devices allow MC complete control of the output. Plughw: devices allow the system to override MC's DSP studio for sample rate/bit depth conversions. |

Conversion can be set by right clicking on the Id in the tree on the left, then choosing "Associate with DLNA Server", then "No conversion". |

You can choose which hardware device the Id will play to. In Internet Explorer, you can do this by running Explorer and clicking on the Id Renderer (green play button) under Media Devices. This will start the Id's server in your browser.
Click on Audio Devices. (If you don't see it, you may have a version of the Id that doesn't include it. You can update from the text menu.
You will see a list similar to this one:
- default:CARD=PCH [ALSA] HDA Intel PCH, ALC283 Analog. Default Audio Device

In the list above, HDMI is obvious. Analog out (1/8" stereo jack) is hw:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 [ALSA]. A USB DAC might have any name. In the list, the Bel Canto USB DAC is sysdefault:CARD=B20 [ALSA]. Not listed above, S/PDIF Optical connections are reported to be typically listed as iec958:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 [ALSA].
