-When a handheld/portable device is connected for the first time a dialog will appear prompting if you would like Media Center to recognize the device. You can also change the display name for the device, which can be very helpful particularly if you have two or more similar devices. The display name can be changed at a later time by right-clicking on the device in the tree and selecting Rename (F2).

-The New Device Recognition screen will open for each detected device, including storage cards. Recognition of storage cards may only occur after you have selected the transfer method.
-When detection is over, the Options screen opens. This is where you select the transfer mode, and configure other options.
