Media Center contains built in DSP's (digital signal processors) that can enhance your music during playback. All DSP and Equalizer functionality uses 32-bits of precision for maximum accuracy and clarity.
To go to DSP settings go to Player > Playback Options > DSP Studio on the Menu bar then select Effects.
You can choose from the following effects:
Environment | Simulates different listening environments by utilizing a professional quality reverb/spatializer. Each environment has its own unique acoustic fingerprint that gives it an individual size, sound coloration, width, and feel. The strength of this effect can be adjusted by the up/down buttons next to the environment selection (ranges from 1 - 10). |
Virtual Subwoofer | A sub-bass boost designed specifically to enhance the "punch" of the music. The larger the virtual subwoofer, the larger the bass boost. (Note: it's strongly recommended that this be used in conjunction with one of the Intelli-Volume modes to protect against clipping.) |
Surround Field | This widens the apparent sound stage to make the music more convincing and engulfing. |
Please Note: DSP functions are only available during the playback of an Audio CD if you have "Use Digital Playback" selected under Tools > Options > Device. Some CD drives do not recognize digital playback. If you have a problem playing Audio CDs, try disabling this option.
