Hardware
There's starting to be a lot of topics under "Tips, tricks, and extra content" that don't necessarily go under the "Media Center manual", which at least right now is related solely on the software. Many of them relate to hardware topics. I would suggest either making a Hardware and Other Software page with a tree of things like networks, operating systems, other hardware, etc. and move some of those there. Or the Hardware tree could be placed in the "Media Center manual." I'm not sure what the goal of the main page is which is why I didn't make any particular change. I agree - the "Tips..." is growing large. Here's some points for debate:
* The "User contributed..." should really be part of the manual. MC's development and support have depended heavily on our user community, and the whole idea of the wiki is user contribution, so put these in the manual in the appropriate section. This includes the view scheme line.
* Skins and Plug-ins - this is here because it is extra content. I don't know. Suggestions?
* FAQ - belongs here, it's just a short cut to sections of the manual.
* Frapper - belongs here, definitely "extra content"
* Using MC on other OSs - suggestions?
* Stability - I don't know. It's not MC specific, so isn't really part of the manual, does it go here? Seems ok to me.
* Home Stereo and TV - I think this should find its way into the manual instead of here. It's part of using MC, so it belongs in the manual, possibly with a FAQ link
* And the last two network entries: very similar to Home Stereo and TV, should be in the manual.
* So, I'd vote for not making another section on the main page, just moving stuff from Tips and Tricks into the manual and/or FAQ.
Jeff, others - what do you think? Counter suggestions? Gateley 13:17, 24 January 2007 (CST)

I agree with your suggestions as I think most things should be in the manual. I wasn't thinking about another section on the main page but one on the Table of Contents page (Media Center). Maybe something like this?

12. Operating Systems
#Using Media Center on Linux
#Using Media Center on OSX/Apple
13. Hardware
#Computer Stability Issues
#Connecting Media Center to a Home Stereo
#Connect a TV to your PC
14. Network
#Playing music across a network
#Sharing a media library with multiple users on a home network (LAN)

As we make our way through the FAQ clean-up there will probably be more entries that could go under these. Jeff 13:41, 24 January 2007 (CST)

Sounds good to me. I'm really swamped at the moment (and out of town tomorrow through the weekend) so go ahead and start doing it if you'd like... Gateley 13:47, 24 January 2007 (CST)

Done. Jeff 12:52, 25 January 2007 (CST)

Thanks Jeff - it looks really nice. Gateley 07:16, 26 January 2007 (CST)
