This device only supports some AVI files. According to [http://www.dlink.com/products/resource.asp?pid=318&rid=1097&sec=0 DLink Specs], they must be MPEG4 layer only. Some AVI files appear to be playable (not grayed out) when viewing via DLink's server, but selecting them to play gives a "format not supported" error. |

The DLink server supports mp4 files. However, it is supporting them in a non-standard way. Media Center's UPnP server will not allow playing of mp4 files on the DLink DSM-320.
The DLink does multiple accesses per file which may lead to unexpected problems.
