What the J. River Id does
It plays music from your PC, using your wireless LAN. It connects to a receiver or to powered PC speakers so you can hear high quality sound.
It's a DLNA Renderer and can be controlled by a DLNA Controller.
You can use J. River Media Center to send it your music. You can use J. River Media Center or a cell phone to control it.

Specifications
Offers a "Play to" feature (similar to Windows 7) for Vista and XP. Also works with Win7.
The Id is a DLNA Renderer, and can work with a DLNA Controller, including MC15 or above.
Onboard wireless connection with 802.11 b/g/n
Push button setup using WPS or use Windows Connect Now and the USB port for configuration
Supports MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV (J. River Media Center is able to convert other popular formats to WAV during playback.)

12V, 1A, uses 2-3 watts when on (both when idle and when playing), uses 1 watt when off, costs a little less than $3/year if left on continuously (assuming $0.11 per kilowatt hour)
